Mendeed it seemed had the world at their feet, supporting bands like Anthrax and Fear Factory to name two receiving rave reviews wherever they went showing promise to become a truly great British band but then on the 4th of September 2007 it all came to an abrupt end with Steve Nixon announced on myspace “Mendeed have regrettably broken up due to irreconcilable difference with our manager, we would like to thank all of our fans for believing in us and helping us get as far as we did. I really wish things would have turned out different for us. Thanks to everyone that had faith in us, we'll miss you all."
It seems fitting then that even though Mendeed aren’t massive like most of the bands that release a best of album but in ‘Shadows. War. Love. – The Very Best Of Mendeed giving those who haven’t heard any of the band’s music twelve tracks of arguably their finest work. Having seen Mendeed live many times and also owning all their albums from the moment opening track ‘Ignite The Flames’ kicks in you realize just how good they were and a breath of fresh air to the music scene. After that it’s no looking back and track after track fly by making you wish Mendeed would reappear and stir things up again. Let’s just hope with the release of this best of album it might happen.
